Must read

The Nigerian Air Force Officers’ Wives Association (NAFOWA) Air Training Command (ATC) Chapter has renovated and furnished a block of classrooms and constructed a borehole at the Nomadic Primary School Kafin-Ganye Kirama in Igabi Local Government Area (LGA), Kaduna State. In the same vein, the Association conducted a 3-day medical outreach at Kauya Community also in Igabi LGA.

Speaking while closing the medical outreach and commissioning the classroom block and borehole, weekend 30, the Guest of Honour, Architect Hadiza Isma El-Rufai, wife of the Kaduna State Governor, said the occasion testifies to the long standing relationship between the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) and the good people of Kaduna State. In her words, “it does not come as a surprise, I have had cause, over time, to witness the care and concern exhibited by your noble organization”. She said such initiatives would enable bonding and regeneration of the spirit of oneness in Kaduna State.

Speaking at the occasion, the NAFOWA National President, Hajiya Hafsat Sadique Abubakar, who was represented by the Vice President of the Association, Mrs Maria Anebi, said the initiative was in fulfillment of the Association’s corporate social responsibility to host communities. “Our initiatives target activities that add value to human existence through humanitarian outreaches like this one and capacity building like our NAFOWA Skills Acquisition and Vocational Training Programmes”, she said.

Hajiya Abubakar therefore urged the communities to leverage the benefits of the renovated/furnished classrooms and medical outreach to improve their well being.

Earlier in her opening address, the Chairperson NAFOWA ATC Chapter, Dr Safiya Aliyu Suleiman, revealed that the initiative was to provide a conducive learning environment as well as alleviate the health challenges in the 2 communities. Text books and exercise books were provided for the school while the 3-day medical outreach catered to clinical and surgical needs of about 4,000 beneficiaries, with treated mosquito nets and other consumables like clothings distributed to members of the 2 communities.

Among dignitaries at the event were the Air Officer Commanding ATC, Air Vice Marshal Mohammed Suleiman, Commanders of NAF units in Kaduna as well as other senior military officers. Also present were leaders of the affected communities as well as staff and students of the Nomadic Primary School.
