It would be recalled that oil-rich Bakassi peninsula was ceded to the Republic of Cameroon in 2010 and the oil wells ceding to Akwa Ibom State in 2015.

Meanwhile, the Lawmaker representing Bakassi in the House, Ekno Ekpo Bassey has urged the Federal Government to intervened in the matters so as to reduce the suffering that followed the ceding.

“We have gone so far in seeking a political solution to solve the issue of Bakassi, adding; “Bakassi should be adequately compensated by the Federal Government.”

Hon. Eteng Williams, the speaker of the House told Daybreak that it was time for the state to reflect on what belongs to her which was taken away and given to the neighbouring state and country.

“It is sad, it is time to reflect.” What comes to Cross River State Now as Revenue is Little; the little we had was taken to a state that had more – Akwa Ibom State, the Federal Government need to act and do the needful.
