National Institute for policy and strategic studies NIPSS the Nation’s think tank is set to graduate 66 participants of the Senior Executive Course, SEC 40 today.

Addressing newsmen in Kuru near Jos the Plateau state capital the acting Director General of NIPSS Dr. Jonathan Mela Juma said the flagship course of the national institute is the Senior Executive Course SEC adding that the course last for 10 months from February to November each year.

According to him, admission is strictly by nomination by sponsoring organisations and approval by the office of the president while the program of the course is organized for the following modules such as understanding the Nigerian state, research methodology, leadership, policy and strategy, science, technology, and innovation.

Other modules according to him, is economic and management studies, international relations, defense and security studies, and peace and conflict studies/ crisis management.

The acting director general pointed out that the theme of this year is”strengthening internal security framework and community policing in Nigeria: Models, policy options and strategies stressing that the sub-themes also includes understanding internal security framework and community policing in Nigeria, historical and policy context of Nigeria security framework and Nigeria’s internal security architect: A strategic Gap analysis.

He added that SEC 40 participants also take a look at internal security framework and community policing in Nigeria: Issues and challenges, assessment and community policing models for internal security in Nigeria and strengthening internal security framework through community policing in Nigeria: Policy options and strategies.

He further noted that 66 participants or nominee drawn from different segments of Nigerian society assembled in February 2018 for the course adding that they were tutored, traveled, interacted and brainstormed throughout the duration of the course while policy research papers were presented during plenary sessions.

According to him, participants also fulfilled the requirements undertaking individuals research projects noting that they all performed very well and would be presented for the confinement of the membership of the national institute mni today.
