The department of  Obstetrics and Gynecology of DASH, yesterday, was agog with celebration as they hosted the hospital community in celebration of its achievement in producing the first Consultant Obstetrician and Gynecologist, in DASH, Dr. Okpara Francis Chukwuemeka.

Representing the Chief Medical Director, Dr. Ikrama Hassan, at the event, Deputy Chairman, Medical Advisory Committee, Dr. Amos Amgbalaga, congratulated Dr. Okpara and all the consultants in the department for their efforts at the training of residents, adding that the O and G department is one of the busiest and overburdened departments in DASH, and their ability to work and still prepare for examination is Worth emulating.

Dr Amgbalaga also said the management is  happy with O and G department because it is the first indigenous consultants of the the West African College of Surgeons produced by the department, while advising residents to work harder to gain the support of management as they are ready  to improve the system.

The beneficiary, Dr. Okpara attributed his success at the examination to God almighty, and his consultants who were his teachers, the nurses at the department of O and G, other departments in DASH who all contributed in his training. He advised other residents not to give up but to work hard and trust in God for guidance.

One of the consultants in the department, Dr.Esa Oga appreciated the entire hospital community for celebrating one of their own, and while he congratulated Dr. Okpara for persevering through all the hurdles he also advised  other residents to emulate him.
Considering how busy the department of O and G is, Dr. Oga appealed to the management of DASH to give Dr. Okpara appointment as a consultant in the hospital, and to employ more residents Doctors so as to improve on efficiency and better service delivery.
