The Chief Medical Director, the Dalhatu Araf Specialist Hospital, Lafia (DASH), Dr. Ikrama Hassan, said, “the world has moved from analogue to digital and Medical Laboratory Science stands at a better advantage in this fast advancing world”.

He stated this in an event organised by the Association of Laboratory Scientists, Nasarawa State Chapter, held in DASH recently, to mark the Biomedical Laboratory Science Day with the theme: “The Role of Biomedical Laboratory Scientist in COVID-19 Pandemic”.

The CMD also added that the choice of the topic for this year’s day is very important considering the significant role laboratory scientists are playing in the fight against COVID-19, while assuring them of every necessary support to ensure their work moves smoothly.

Also Speaking, Dr. Akyala Ishaku, Associate Professor of Infectious Diseases and Public Health emphasised the need for Laboratory Scientists to take advantage of the innumerable data available to laboratory scientists for research, and for entrepreneurship.

He, however, called on Nigerians to take COVID-19 seriously as it is a threat to all.
