Education: Hayyo urges principals in FCT schools to prioritize students academic performance

The Secretary for Education, Dr. Danlami Hayyo, has urged principals across FCT Secondary schools to prioritize the academic performance of students, in addition to upholding the ethics of professionalism and moral conduct in schools.

Hayyo warned principals against illegal charges and collection of unauthorized fees, but rather they should focus on improving the academic performance of students without any form of exploitation.

The FCT Secondary for Education gave this advice at a meeting with principals in Abuja, emphasizing the importance of instilling sound moral values in students.
He noted that principals can show themselves worthy of emulation by dressing in proper cultural costumes, instead of wearing attires that expose their bodies.

Meanwhile, Hayyo has commended the FCT Minister of the FCT, Bar Ezenwo Nyesom Wike’s administration for creating a more conducive learning environment in schools through the massive school rehabilitation and reconstruction projects across the Area Councils.

He, however, emphasized the need for the School Heads to reciprocate the Minister’s efforts and commitment to Education by enhancing their focus on academic excellence, discipline, and maintaining a high standard of teaching.

Speaking earlier, the Director/Secretary, FCT Secondary Education Board, Dr Sani Mohammed Ladan everyone to the crucial meeting noting that the School Administrators has been in the forefront of delivering academic results.

Also speaking, the Director, Education Resource Centre Hajia Nameet Abduralhim outlined the re-echoed the advice and charged the principals to reciprocate.

Responding, President, FCT All Nigeria Confederation of Principals of Secondary Schools ( ANCOPSS) ,Alhaji Adam Gupa expressed appreciation to the Secretary for Education for his unwavering support to achieving academic excellence and sound morals in FCT Schools.
