Plateau State Governor, Simon Lalong on Friday condoled with the government and people of Nasawara State, on the demise of Alhaji Hassan Ahmed Abubakar II, the Emir of Nasarawa, who passed on, Thursday, November 8.

The Governor, in a statement by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Mark Longyen, in Jos commiserated with Nasarawa State Governor, Umaru Tanko Al-Makura, the Nasarawa Emirate Council and the late Emir’s family.

Governor Lalong described the late First Class traditional ruler as an epitome of humility, exemplary leader, advocate for peaceful coexistence and religious tolerance, adding that his rare attributes will be greatly missed, and prayed God to grant his soul eternal rest and his subjects the fortitude to bear the loss.

Similarly, the Governor, in a condolence letter to Senator Osita Izunaso, a one-time Minister and Imo West Senator, condoled him on the recent death of his mother.

The letter reads: “It is with deep sadness that I received the news of the passing on to glory of your beloved mother, the late Chief (Mrs) Florence Nwamaka Izunaso, JP, who died at the ripe age of 85.

My sympathy, thoughts and fervent prayers are with you, your siblings and, indeed, the entire Izunaso immediate and extended families in this moment of great grief.

It is indeed very painful to lose a mother, mentor, matriarch, heroine and family pillar on whom you all leaned, especially at this time when you need her motherly counselling, experience, guidance and support the most.

Mama was a renowned female community leader and politician, who carved a niche for herself through her tireless fight for the less privileged in the society.

She was also a committed, determined, relentless and selfless mother, who left no stone unturned to educate her children and siblings.

The deceased also lived an exemplary life of humility, empathy, devotion and commitment to the Christian faith, as evident in her membership of the Catholic Women Organization (CWO), St Jude Society, Father Tansi Movement, among others.

On behalf of the government and good people of Plateau State, please accept my deepest sympathy and be consoled and comforted over this great loss.”
