Opposition political parties in Zamfara express worry over APC crisis

Must read

From Abba Kabara, Gusau.

Twenty opposition political parties in Zamfara state have expressed detest over the dismal political footing of the ruling party, the All Progressive Congress, APC, to resolve it’s internal crisis and forward lists of candidates for the 2019 elections.

This reaction is coming on the heels of the recent release of Governorship and State Assembly lists of candidates in the state with APC candidates missing in the master list.

The coalition of parties noted that going to the polls without the APC ruling party would not only negate the beauty of the exercise but would be a serious set back to our democracy.

The spokesman of the coalition parties, who is the chairman of the Democratic Alternative Party (DAP) Alhaji Sulaiman Abubakar observes that the action of the APC stakeholders in the state was detrimental to democratic culture.

According to him, in democracy, there should be a spirit of dialogue and amicable resolution of disputes in the selection of positions.

“As key players in a democratic organ”, Abubakar suggests that both Zamfara APC and governor Yari should have taken a second thought on the nomination of candidates, particularly for the controversial Governorship position.

He said rather than wasting time and energy in pulling strings over the nomination of Sen. Marafa, Mukhtar Shehu or Dauda Lawal, the party should now reconsider other aspirants like Aminu Sani Jaji as an option.

“We, as stakeholders in the contest, are deeply worried that APC is bedeviled with the internal crisis”, he stressed, noting that the coalition of political parties feels highly concerned to offer some advice as the way forward.

The coalition noted that nomination of Hon. Aminu Sani Jaji could stabilize and solve the problem, as according to the spokesman, “Sen. Mafara’s faction and Governor Yari’s faction are likely to concede with Jaji as an alternative.
