From Abba Kabara, Gusau.

The Gusau high court (III) has today adjourned hearing on the lingering proceeding over the legitimacy of the All Progressive Congress (APC) gubernatorial primaries in the state.

The case was filed by the state chapter of the party before the high court Judge, Justice Bello Muhammad Shinkafi seeking for the legitimacy and upholding the primaries.

The counsel for the plaintiff Barrister Surajo Garba who talked to the press immediately after the court session, said the defence counsel has acknowledged that primaries were actually held but claimed That it was marred by gross irregularities and this, according to him, was contrary to the earlier claim that there was no primaries held in the state.

According to him, the defence counsel Barrister John Charlie Shaka was only looking for flimsy excuses by praying the court to grant him a permission to bring two defence witnesses in persons of Senator Kabiru Garba Marafa and the state Resident Electoral Commissioner Dr. Asma’u Sani Maikudi.

After long moment of legal arguments between the plaintiff and the defence counsels, Justice Shinlafi granted the prayers in favour of the defence council for the appearance of the two witnesses.

The Judge however, granted only two days, (Friday 21st) as court notice for the two witnesses to appear before him.
