18 Police Officers attacked by Bandits at B/Gwari Funtua road revealed

..As Bandits ransack Damari town in B/Gwari

By Gabriel Udeh, KADUNA

Birnin Gwari Emirate Progressives Union (BEPU) had reported that the whereabouts of 18 Police Officers attacked along Birnin Gwari Funtua road on Friday 15 January 2021is unascertained.
The 18 Police Officers who were on surveillance along Birnin Gwari Funtua road were attacked on Friday, according to the statement made available to journalists in Kaduna on Saturday by the Union’s Chairman Barrister  Salisu Haruna.

The statement stressed that “As at the time of filing this report, BEPU could not ascertain the number of casualties. “Eye witness feared that some of the police officers were killed while others are said to be missing in the bush. Reports confirmed that two police have called via phone to inform home that they were attacked and that they could not locate their location”, it stated.

Similarly, BEPU reported that on Thursday an unconfirmed number of bandits have ransacked Damari village in Dogon Dawa constituency of Birnin Gwari local government area. The bandits who came on several bikes were said to have carted away heavy food commodities and stole a number of motorcycles. “They did not kill anyone. They spent 3 hours in Damari village without any confrontation by the security.”, It stated.

The Union appealed to the Kaduna State Government that the promise of deploying more Police along Birnin Gwari Kaduna road is yet to be fulfilled 7 days after the promise was made.

Recall that the Kaduna State Commissioner of Police has last week promised to deploy more police along Birnin Gwari Kaduna road to man the road against rising tides of killings and kidnappings happening along the road daily.

The Commissioner promised that the police will be mobilised to the road last Monday, but as at the time of filing this report, there was no deployment of any police along the road, even as the bandits have continued to perpetrate their heinous acts unabated.

BEPU begs the government, upon who the protection of our lives and property, is reposed on to sit up and face security issues in Birnin Gwari squarely until victory is ascertained.
BEPU thanked the Kaduna state government for her efforts in staving off insecurity in Birnin Gwari.

While congratulating our gallant men and officers of the Nigerian Army and Air force, BEPU thanked them for all the sacrifices they are making to ensure the protection of lives and property in Birnin Gwari, even as the union urges them to continue with their offensive attacks at the enclaves of bandits in Birnin Gwari.
