By Odo Ogenyi, Uyo

Akwa Ibom Governorship Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Pastor Umo Eno has promised to return Abak to it’s glory days in palm cultivation and make it a hub for palm oil production if elected Governor in 2023.

“Before we came to Abak, we made an assessment of this LGA. Years ago, the Malaysians came to Abak and picked palm fruits and took it to their country, and today, we are importing oil from them.

“When I become Governor in 2023, we will return Abak back to its status. We will bring back the oil palm belt to Abak. We will put together an oil palm refinery in Abak so that not only will oil palm be refined, you can also refine palm kernel and do other things. Abak is going to be a hub for oil palm in Akwa Ibom.” He said.

He further pledged to build a new market in Abak L.G.A, set up an agric equipment leasing company to aid farmers in the area, and also offer interest-free loans to farmers to enable them trade and run their businesses.

Noting the lack of a steady power supply in Abak, the seasoned entrepreneur promised the provision of a steady electricity supply to the area and also promised to take care of the Independence Hall which has been hit by gully erosion in recent times.
