Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom has assured aspirations contesting elections on the platform of the People’s Democratic party, PDP, of transparency in conducting party’s primaries.
The Governor who gave the assurance during an expanded meeting with the delegates of the party at the Government House Makurdi declared that voting would be conducted even where consensus has been reached.
Speaking further, Ortom maintained that no eligible aspirant of the party would be deprived of their rights to contest. ” I assure you of maximum transparency during the conduct of the exercise.”
The Governor Implored the state Secretariat of the party to make available copies of the delegates list to all Aspirants to ensure accountability and transparency.
In his remarks, the state Chairman of the PDP, Mr John Ngbede told Aspirants that primaries will commence on Wednesday with State House of Assembly, House of Representatives will take its turn on Friday while Senate and Governorship primaries will hold on the 23rd of May, 2022 respectively.
Mr Ngede warned that any aspirant who is caught trying to disrupt the process will be disqualified no matter how highly placed the person might be.
Meanwhile, leader of the G14, Mr Laha Dzever and that of the G9, Moses Ajima informed the caucus that they were able to reach consensus with two Aspirants, adding that they will go into primaries.
