Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State has expressed optimism in the ability of the Governorship Aspirants on the platform of the People’s Democratic party, PDP, to effectively pilot the affairs of the state if elected Governor.
The Governor gave this indication at the Government House Makurdi at the expanded meeting of the party with thirty PDP Gubernatorial Aspirants in attendance.
Ortom harped that due to their pedigree, credentials and past antecedents any of them that emerges may even perform better than what the present administration has achieved.
The Governor who lauded the Aspirants over peaceful consultations, admonished them to maintain the tempo. He enjoined the Gubernatorial Hopefuls to jointly pick a consensus candidate among themselves, adding that in an event they fail, the party would begin the process of selecting a candidate.
Ortom charges PDP stakeholders in the state to go back to their communities and mobilize people for ongoing voter’s registration exercise in their Wards to ensure that the state participate in the forthcoming general elections.
The Governor further contended that there is need for unity of purpose and collective responsibility of stakeholders to enhance internal democracy within the party to achieve set goals.
Responding on behalf of the Aspirants, the Chairman of the PDP guber Hopefuls, Mr Chile Igbawua applauded the Governor for giving them a guide. He appealed to the Aspirants to be mindful of zoning which according to him would make interactions among them more easier.
