Former Senator representing Benue North-East and All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain, Senator Barnabas Gemade, has expressed unwavering support for Governor Hyacinth Alia’s re-election bid in 2027. Speaking at a thanksgiving and reception event in Tse-Agberagba, Konshisha Local Government Area, Gemade assured that nothing would prevent Governor Alia from securing a second term.
The event also featured the conferment of the chieftaincy title Akinde U Konshisha on Chief Solomon Iorpev, the Technical Adviser to the Governor on Media, Publicity, and Strategic Communication.
“Alia’s Re-Election Assured”
Gemade urged the people of Benue State to rally behind Governor Alia, emphasizing the need for collective support regardless of his performance.
“Governor Alia will secure a second term, even if his performance is not perfect. The people of Benue must support him to achieve more for the state,” Gemade stated.
The former senator reiterated his decision to no longer contest elective positions, choosing instead to support others, particularly Governor Alia, in driving Benue State’s development agenda.
Support for Honoree and Development Initiatives
Addressing the honoree, Gemade pledged continued prayers and support for Chief Iorpev, urging him to remain focused despite political distractions.
“Your detractors will not succeed. Ignore them and continue your good work,” Gemade advised, adding that he remains committed to aiding the administration’s development goals.
In his response, Chief Solomon Iorpev expressed gratitude to God for his blessings and acknowledged Senator Gemade’s mentorship. He called on the people of Benue to support Governor Alia’s administration, highlighting its dedication to improving the lives of citizens.
Iorpev announced plans to sponsor 10 youths annually for skills training and drill boreholes in each of the 15 communities in the area through his foundation.
Recognition from the Community
The Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Benue State Council, Mr. Bemdoo Ugber, commended the honor bestowed on Iorpev by his community, describing it as a testament to his impactful contributions.
Spiritual Guidance
Earlier, during a service at the Full Gospel Revival Crusade Church in Tse-Agberagba, Pastor Sabastine Ikyambe advised Chief Iorpev to seek divine wisdom, likening his journey to that of Solomon in the Bible. He prayed for God’s protection over him and his family.
The event was attended by prominent leaders, stakeholders, and community members, all united in celebrating the achievements of Chief Iorpev and reaffirming their support for Governor Alia’s leadership.
