2027 Nasarawa Governorship: Barade Movement Urges Dr. Musa Ahmed Muhammed to Contest

By Abel Zwanke, Lafia

A socio-political group, the Barade 2027 Movement, has called on Rt. Hon. Dr. Musa Ahmed Muhammed to contest the 2027 Nasarawa State governorship election, citing his experience, leadership capacity, and grassroots appeal. The call was made on Sunday during a well-attended public programme held in Daddere Development Area, Obi Local Government Area of Nasarawa State. The event attracted youths, women, elders, and political associates from across Nasarawa South Senatorial Zone.According to the organisers, the gathering marked the official take-off of the movement’s campaign activities in Nasarawa South, with plans already in place to extend outreach to Nasarawa North and Nasarawa West in the coming weeks.

Speaking at the event, Chairman of the Barade 2027 Movement, Mr. Anas Ibrahim, said the initiative was driven by the need to promote credible and capable leadership ahead of the 2027 Nasarawa governorship election.“We are making this clarion call because we believe Dr. Musa Ahmed Muhammed has the vision, competence, and commitment required to lead Nasarawa State beyond 2027,” Ibrahim said. He described Dr. Muhammed as a seasoned politician with strong intellectual depth, legislative experience, and deep grassroots connections across the state. Ibrahim added that the former lawmaker’s track record in constituency development and public service had earned him widespread respect. The Barade 2027 Movement, he explained, operates under the broader Fatan Alheri political platform, which focuses on mobilising citizens around good governance, accountability, inclusiveness, and people-centred development.“

Today, our activities are taking off in Nasarawa South. In the coming weeks, we will take this message to Nasarawa North and other parts of the state as part of our statewide engagement,” Ibrahim stated.Several speakers at the programme, including youth and women leaders, expressed support for Dr. Muhammed’s potential candidacy. They described him as a unifying figure with a strong understanding of Nasarawa State’s socio-political and economic dynamics.Chairman of the occasion, Namairo and Sons, said the strong turnout of young people reflected growing demand for leadership that prioritises empowerment, job creation, and economic opportunities.“Barade represents hope for the younger generation. We are ready to support any movement that promotes competence, integrity, and inclusive governance,” he said.

Women leaders at the event also pledged their support, emphasising the need for leadership that would strengthen social welfare policies and promote gender inclusion in governance. The organisers stressed that the Barade 2027 Movement is non-violent and issue-based, adding that consultations with traditional rulers, community leaders, and other key stakeholders would continue across the state. They formally appealed to Dr. Musa Ahmed Muhammed to heed the call to contest the 2027 Nasarawa governorship election, noting that his candidacy could foster unity and accelerate development. The programme concluded with renewed commitments from supporters to intensify grassroots mobilisation as political activities ahead of the 2027 elections gradually gain momentum across Nasarawa State.
