298 Suspects Apprehended by Jigawa State Police for Various Criminal Offenses

In a significant crackdown on criminal activities during the third quarter of 2023, the Jigawa State Police Command successfully apprehended 298 suspects. This accomplishment was announced in a statement by DSP Lawan Shiisu, the Command’s spokesperson in Dutse.

The operations conducted during this period led to the recovery of 64 rustled animals, firearms, and the rescue of six individuals who had been kidnapped.

The arrested suspects were allegedly involved in a range of criminal activities, including robbery, kidnapping, murder, rape, vandalism, animal rustling, and fraud, among others.

The suspects encompassed a variety of categories, with 25 individuals identified as robbers, 12 as kidnappers, 36 as murderers, 25 as rapists, 37 as thieves, 15 as vandals, 17 as animal rustlers, and five as fraudsters. An additional 126 suspects were arrested for their alleged involvement with brigand gangs.

During these operations, the Police confiscated a significant amount of weaponry and contraband, including one AK-47 rifle, one Beretta pistol, three locally-made guns, 48 live ammunitions, 20 motor vehicles/cycles, and 64 rustled animals.

The Jigawa Police Command attributed the state’s overall peace and security to their proactive crime prevention strategies. They praised the collaborative efforts of the acting Inspector-General of Police, Mr. Kayode Egbeyokun, the Jigawa government, and other security agencies for their support in maintaining law and order.

Emphasizing their dedication to safeguarding lives and property, Shiisu called upon the residents of Jigawa State to assist and cooperate with the Police in their ongoing battle against criminal activities.
