330 Schools in Sokoto to Benefit from ₦66 Million Cash Allocation for Maintenance

Sokoto State Governor, Dr. Ahmad Aliyu Sokoto, FCNA, has officially launched the Adolescent Girls Initiative for Learning and Empowerment (AGILE) project in the state.

The event, which featured the unveiling of the AGILE logo, also marked the introduction of several key initiatives aimed at improving education across Sokoto State.

As part of the launch, the governor inaugurated a conditional cash transfer program to support schools and enhance learning environments. He also announced a cash allocation of ₦200,000 to the principals of all secondary schools in the state to boost educational development and improve infrastructure.

Commitment to Educational Advancement

In his welcome address, the Honorable Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Professor A. L. Ala, commended the governor for his commitment to transforming the education sector. He highlighted the AGILE project as a vital initiative in empowering adolescent girls and advancing inclusive education.

“This initiative underscores the Sokoto State Government’s dedication to ensuring inclusive and quality education, particularly for young girls, and creating a sustainable future for all,” he stated.

Beneficiary Schools

The 330 beneficiary schools include:
Colleges
Secondary Schools
Arabic Schools
Boarding Primary Schools
Government Almajiri Boarding Schools


Governor Ahmad Aliyu further revealed that the total monthly allocation for these schools amounts to ₦66 million, which will be used for maintenance and minor repairs of basic facilities.

This initiative aligns with the state government’s vision of providing a conducive learning environment and empowering young learners, particularly adolescent girls.
