In a distressing incident, suspected gunmen reportedly kidnapped a 60-year-old farmer, Mr. Kayode Ajayi, on Monday evening. The abduction occurred at his farm located in Laduba village, situated in the Asa local government area of Kwara State.

Following the incident, the anti-kidnap unit of the state police command swiftly deployed personnel to the village. Local hunters and vigilantes have also joined efforts to rescue the victim.

According to information gathered , Mr. Ajayi was abducted on Monday evening while returning from his farm, accompanied by his daughter. Fortunately, the daughter has since been rescued from the kidnappers.

Family sources close to the victim disclosed to journalists in Ilorin on Tuesday that, “Mr. Kayode Ajayi and his daughter were returning from their farm at Laduba around 7:00 pm when they were kidnapped by unknown gunmen. After the abduction, they were taken some distance away from the farm, and the daughter was subsequently released, while the father remained in the custody of the gunmen.”

The wife of Mr. Ajayi raised the alarm about her husband’s abduction, leading to the involvement of the community and well-wishers. They promptly informed the security agencies, particularly the police command, to initiate rescue efforts.

Despite being unable to contact Mr. Ajayi since Monday, the family has turned to prayers and remains hopeful for his safe rescue.

Kwara Command’s Police Public Relations Officer, SP Okasanmi Ajayi, confirmed the abduction and the successful rescue of the victim’s daughter. He stated, “Efforts are vigorously in progress to get Mr. Kayode Ajayi rescued,” adding that the anti-kidnap unit of the State Police Command is actively involved in the search operation. SP Ajayi expressed confidence that Mr. Ajayi would be safely rescued in due course.
