” why the rumors the insinuation about stepdown ” says Otuber.
The APC in Adamawa state has more governorship candidates from the central senatorial district. There have been rumours peddling rather anonymously that some aspirants have agreed to step down, allowing a lone candidate for a Hobesean choiced primary elections. The rumours and insinuations were however debunked by some governorship aspirants spoken to by the Periscope either directly or through the media aids.
Sen Aisha Dahiru Ahmed, a.k.a Binani, the lone lady would not be brought to thinking step down for a consensus candidate other than her very person, her candidacy to be favoured, any resolution other than this will have a recommendation to go to polls for the party primaries.
Nuruddeen Kama has reported a move by Adamawa Central Advocacy group to have a lone candidate from the Adamawa central senatorial district for the APC governorship primaries.
The group would want to get it right, to present credible and acceptable candidate that could for the very first time, win governorship election.
It turned out to be a deadlock with Binani placing a call, urging other contestants to step down for her, citing her gender for a reason, Kama would articulate.
Binani it could be recalled, has earlier publicly kicked against any move by the party for a favoured consensus candidate before the primaries.
Dr Umar Mustapha Madawaki, a.k.a Otumba would not betray by mortgaging the popular electorates call for the contest. A press release issued by his media team has vehemently debunked the rumours that he has stepped down for a preferred consensus candidate that it was simply but obnoxious political propagating lacking both the form and the soul, the real and the ideal..
As individuals, we have reasons joining the governorship race aimed at getting the state out of the filthy maze. I for instance, am invited by the teeming electorates to serve; I’m not requesting anyone to step down for me to rise up. The better option is for all of us to face the primaries. We’ll support any candidate from among us whom the victory favoured, ” Otumba would say.
Recall that Otumba has already gotten the support of delegates who contested for the Chairmen, Vice Chairmen and Councillorship, during the local council elections, from the 19 out of the 21 local government areas of Adamawa state, who in a press conference publicly aligned with his governorship aspiration.
Nothing is heard from the anticorruption tsar other than getting the state out of labyrinth occasioned by corruption as cankerworm that has eating deep the state treasury, leaving debris of debts for inheritance and cluelessness an anathema to good governance, justice and fairness.
Electorates are even contemplating whether or not he has publicly expressed an interest to contest; “like an introvert Malan Nuhu Ribadu strategically operates,” an electorates would comment. Could he step down for a candidate, perhaps as Binani is reported to have requested?
The governorship aspirants under APC from the central senatorial district are; Malam Nuhu Ribadu the antigraft tsar, Dr Umar Mustapha Madawaki, a.k.a Otumba, the technocratic, philanthropic aristocrat, Senator Aishatu Dahiru Ahmed, a.k.a BINANI, the amazing amazon and Pharmacist Wafari Theman, who, the Periscope gathered, would not be tamed and/or tempted by any consensus arrangement, considering the consequences of doing so and the gains to enjoy joining the primary elections.
Ambassador Mohammed Jameel Abubakar-Waziri, holding the traditional title of Mutawallin Adamawa, a frontline governorship contender under PDP, the lone candidate to challenge the incumbent governor Fintiri at the primaries also hails from the central zone.
Hon Abdurrazak Namdas is also a governorship aspirant from the southern senatorial district. He has made an intimidating outing earlier than any other candidate. Will he join the race or he will succumb to the pressure in the call for a consensus candidate? To this, the Periscope gathered, he keeps mute while he moves on with his campaign strategies; thinking fast and further ahead.
The former governor, Sen Muhammadu Umaru Jibrilla, a.k.a Bindow, with his supporters adding “ikon Allah”, would want to explore the “God’s grace” by thinking reclaiming Dougirei Hill rather than anybody in the contest. Could he submit to the consensus favoured candidate other than him for a step down?
Bindow hails from the northern senatorial district that produces more governors than other districts since the state creation. Governor Fintiri, like Bindow, hails from the northern zone of the state.
Some political pundits interviewed, would not explain the quest for a consensus candidate in APC challenging other contestants to step down before the primary election . “we hope it ends as rumours,” they would pray.
