Explosions, Too Many As Diesel Tanker Again Explodes in Lokoja

At least, three people were reported dead, burnt beyond recognition as a diesel tanker again crashed and exploded in Felele axis of Lokoja, kogi state capital.

The Diesel tanker according to eye witness exploded at about 8:00pm on Monday night after the crash resulting from Dangerous Driving by the tanker Driver who suddenly loss control.

According to reports, owing to the road repairs on the Lokoja Abuja road, one section of the road was closed to traffic, making vehicles to use one lane.

It was in the circumstances that the two tankers collided leading to the tank containing diesel to spill, caught fire and resulted to a gridlock on the highway.

The fire resulting from Crash burnt two other trailers and a Dyna Pick up Van.

Three persons were burnt to death while two other victims were rescued with burns and taken to FMC Lokoja for Medical attention and the corpse deposited at the motuary.

TheDyna PICK-UP VAN that was parked by the road side and 2 other vehicles were also affected by the fire.

Traffic was at stand still due to the magnitude of the fire until it was controlled. Operatives of FRSC later conducted traffic control to clear the hold up.

Meanwhile The Kogi Sector Commander, Federal Road Safely Corps (FRSC), Mr Stephen Dawulung who visited the scene while speaking with newsmen said The Dyna PICK-UP VAN that was parked by the road side and 2 other vehicles were also affected by the fire.

He called on drivers of articulated vehicles especially those carrying flammable substances to be always cautious and drive within the regulated speed limit and also maintain all vehicle safety protocols like the use of safety valves to prevent spillages of content in the event of crash.

He noted that the two persons that were injured have been rush d to federal medical center Lokoja for treatment as he called on the federal government to put more bumps on that road in order to slowdown vehicles speed.

The high way has witnessed fatal accidents in recent past, a development that prompted the federal government to construct bumps at the intervals of the road to reduce such an unfortunate incident and the attendant loss of lives and property.
