Ex-INEC chairman Maurice Iwu granted N1bn bail

A Federal High Court sitting in the Ikoyi zone of Lagos, on Friday, August 9, conceded a N1 billion bail to Professor Maurice Iwu, a previous chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Subtleties of the court procedures were as yet concluded at the time of this report, however Channels Television says this was the condition given to Iwu for his bail.

Iwu had been ordered remanded in the care of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) by the court.

It was likewise announced that the court had fixed the date for the hearing of the application for bail documented Iwu.

Professor Iwu was on Thursday, August 8, summoned by the EFCC for supposedly laundering N1.2 billion.

It was assembled that in the wake of arguing not blameworthy to a four-check charge before Justice Chuka Obiozor, the previous INEC chairman was remanded in EFCC custody.

EFCC’s acting representative, Tony Orilade, first uncovered the plan to summon the previous INEC chairman in a statement in Abuja.
