The Central Bank of Nigeria, Sokoto branch has today Wednesday handed over election sensitive materials to INEC who immediately sorted the materials for onward delivery to 23 local government areas in the State.
The materials include ballot papers, collation forms and result sheets for Presidency, Senatorial and House of Representative elections.
Resident Electoral Commissioner in the state Dr. Nura Ali while briefing newsmen said out of 3991 polling units in Sokoto only 3983 would actively perform the voting exercises.
He said the local government Electoral Officers will take delivery of all the essentials needed for smooth elections including the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) machine.
“Apart from the additional machines from National Headquarters of INEC we have another eight belonging to wards where voting will not take place.
“We have 3995 BVAS machines and backups in case some develop faults or failure to access.
He then said all the materials are highly secured with the assistance of police and other security agencies in the state and therefore have no fear of any form of molestations by thugs or those that try to disrupt election processes.
He further revealed that all the machines were tasted but found only five were faulty and were immediately sent to national headquarters for possible replacement.
