My Livestock Are More Manageable Than Fellow Nigerians-Buhari

Outgoing Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari has made a controversial statement, asserting that he finds it easier to manage his cattle and sheep than his fellow Nigerians. Buhari, who has served as President for the past eight years, will be handing over power to incoming President Bola Tinubu.

During a pre-inauguration Gala Night speech on Sunday, Buhari expressed his intention to return to his hometown of Daura in Katsina State to focus on tending to his farm animals. He stated, “I am looking forward to tomorrow to fly to my base to go and meet my cattle and sheep, which are much easier to control than fellow Nigerians. But I have to reduce their number, because I cannot save enough to buy them feeds,” as reported by Daily Post.

Tinubu, aged 71, was declared the winner of the 2023 presidential election by the Independent National Electoral Commission. Despite promising to restore hope, he will face significant challenges in the form of economic instability and security issues. Nigeria currently grapples with soaring inflation, a mounting debt burden, and widespread insecurity, including incidents of abduction, banditry, and terrorism.

With approximately 20 world leaders expected to attend Tinubu’s inauguration, delegations from the United States and China have already arrived in the country, reflecting the international interest in Nigeria’s political transition.
