Kaduna Nurses declares 3day sensitization, medical outreach to communities

The National Association of Nigerian Nurses and Midwives in Kaduna, has join the rest of the world to celebrating the whole week event through organizing series of campaigns in both hospital and neighbouring communities .

The international Nursing Week was marked worldwide from May 8 -14, 2023, with this year’s theme entitled: “Our Nurses. Our Future.

Comrade jummai Hamisu, a Nurse at Yusuf Dantshohu Memorial Hospital Tudun-Wada, kaduna, who discloses this said
they’re organizing the 3days event to mark the 2023 Nurses week to also showcase their importance in health facilities.

According to her, the activities toward celebrating the week include taking the campaigns to neighbouring communities while sensitising hundreds of residence and patience on the importance of nurses in all the health facilities.

The event which is going to kick -start from 30th-31th May and ended on the 1st day of June is going to be more excitement .as many nurses has voluntarily decided to do it

She said, the theme of this year will be a global campaign that sets out what and how nursing in the future should address global health challenges and improve global health for everyone..

Comrade jummai pointed that, Nurses play vital role not only in the hospital setting but also in the society at large.

“They are believed to be the most caring profession in the world. Some hospitals, like small clinics, may do without doctors but I doubt if they can do without nurses.

“Nurses provide care and at times medical treatment to human beings from birth to the end of their lives. Hence, the first and last care one gets here on earth is usually from nurses”, she said.

Similarly, another nurse, hadiza Umar Mohammed from the same hospital added that they have embarked on 3days campaigns which they would end on Thursday through free diagnoses, treatment and drugs.

She Stressed that they have mobilizes all their Nurses to be part of the 3days events.

She said Nurses advocate for health promotion, educate patients and the public on the prevention of illness and injury, provide care and assist in cure, participate in rehabilitation, and provide support, adding, “No other health care professional has such a broad and far-reaching role”.

She further stated that, Nurses are the foundation of healthcare. “They play a vital role in providing care, comfort and compassion for their patients and patients’ families.
