Allege N2b Fraud: EFCC Interrogate Ex-Minister, Pauline Tallen

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), yesterday, interrogated the immediate past Minister of Women Affairs, Pauline Tallen, over alleged corrupt enrichment to the tune of N2 billion.

Reports gathered that the former minister, who arrived at the Abuja Zonal Command of the commission on invitation at 12p.m. was still being grilled by investigators of the commission as of the time of filing this report last night.

Though details of the allegations against the ex-minister were sketchy, a source familiar with the case said it bordered on corrupt enrichment to the tune of N2 billion.

Part of the money was allegedly diverted from the African First Ladies Peace Mission project.

Spokesman of the Commission, Wilson Uwujaren, could not be reached for confirmation.

It would be recalled that the former First Lady, Mrs Aisha Buhari, had openly demanded that the former minister return a N500 million donation by the federal government to the project.

“I will like to thank the Nigerian government for their intervention. We also understood that some funds amounting to N500 million were allegedly received by the Honourable Minister of Women Affairs on behalf of the Africa First Ladies Peace Mission.

“We, therefore, appeal to the minister to immediately credit the account of the Peace Mission for the purpose of accountability,” she said.

The anti-graft agency had, Thursday, quizzed the former Governor of Ekiti State, Kayode Fayemi, over alleged diversion of N4 billion while he served as the state chief executive.
