Kano State Government Gifts Cows and Food Items to Physically Challenged and Inmates During Eid-el-Kabir

In the spirit of Eid-el-Kabir, the Kano State Government has distributed food items and cows to Persons Living With Disabilities (PLWDs) and inmates of 13 rehabilitation centers for the mentally challenged. Governor Abba Kabir-Yusuf, represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Abdullahi Baffa-Bichi, emphasized that the beneficiaries were carefully selected from the five emirate councils and the rehabilitation centers.

The annual event aims to ensure that PLWDs do not feel isolated during the festive celebration. The distributed items included rice, vegetable oil, cows, rams, and cash to enable the beneficiaries to purchase firewood and condiments.

Among the recipients were the Emir of the Deaf, the Emir of the Blind, the Emir of the Physically Challenged, and the Emir of the Lepers, accompanied by their chiefs from the emirates of Kano, Bichi, Karaye, Rano, and Gaya. The beneficiaries also included representatives from the associations of albinos, the blind, spinal cord patients, and others.

The governor highlighted that the 13 rehabilitation centers for the mentally challenged are located in Dawakin Kudu, Gaya, Dorayi, Bichi, Danbatta, Minjibir, Wudil, Sumaila, Tudun Wada, Rano, Karaye, and Shahuci.

The Executive Secretary of the Kano State Emergency Management Agency, Alhaji Isyaku Abdullahi-Kubarachi, expressed his appreciation to the governor for the kind gesture. He advised residents to proactively clear the drainages in front of their houses to prevent flooding.

In response to the governor’s goodwill, the Emir of the Blind, Alhaji Ado Halilu, expressed gratitude on behalf of the beneficiaries, assuring that the distributed items would be utilized judiciously.
