“Shehu Sani Reacts to Asari Dokubo’s Private Army Plan for President Tinubu”

Former Kaduna Central Senator, Shehu Sani, has voiced his concern over the announcement made by Niger Delta militant leader, Asari Dokubo, who declared plans to raise a private army to protect President Bola Tinubu. In a viral video, Dokubo expressed his allegiance to the president and threatened to crush anyone seeking Tinubu’s downfall.

However, Sani cautioned President Tinubu against entertaining the idea of having a private armed militia safeguarding him. He emphasized that Nigeria already possesses capable and experienced armed forces, police, and security agencies that are more than capable of providing the necessary protection.

The former senator stressed that a private army could be detrimental to the nation’s stability and security. He firmly believes that such militias can act as “viruses for the destruction of any country.” In his Twitter message, Sani urged President Tinubu to avoid endorsing or indirectly supporting the creation of a state-backed private armed force.

Given the delicate nature of the country, Sani emphasized that Nigeria does not require a private army. Instead, he advocates relying on the country’s existing security infrastructure to ensure the safety and protection of the President and the government. As the debate surrounding the private army plan unfolds, Nigerians closely watch how this issue will develop and how President Tinubu will address the situation.
