The president of the Nigeria Wrestling Federation Champion Daniel Igali has lauded the performance of the Nation’s Wrestlers at the ongoing 2nd Governor Diri National Wrestling Classics in Yenagoa.

Daniel Igali while giving the assertion of the events so far on Tuesday commended the high level of wrestling from the various states and clubs.

Champion Igali noted that the future of wrestling is bright as the level of competitiveness in the 2nd Governor Douye Diri National Wrestling Classics has increased the odds.

Daniel Igali stated that despite high profile wrestlers who are yet to take to the mat, the tournament has lived up to its expectations.

However, the Nigeria Wrestling Federation president expresses optimism of more Classic matches as world medalist, Olympic medallist, commonwealth champions and African champions wait to wow the people.

Igali added that Bayelsa should expect great performances from Blessing Oborodudu, Mercy Genesis, Esther Kolawale, Odunaye Adekuoroye, Amas Daniel among others.

Daniel therefore calls on the good people of Bayelsa to come out en-masse and witness international wrestling as bout continues on Wednesday with reigning African champion and festival champion Ebi Biogos in action in the 72kg.

Also in the 57kg Bayelsa Ebikewenimo who is one time african champion and multiple commonwealth games medalist faces a tough opponent from Edo that could displace him as National champion.

Similarly, Seitonkumo who is the national and festival champion will face strong opposition from Ondo and Delta State in the 61kg.

Meanwhile, Team Bayelsa has won Gold 5, Silver 6, bronze 3, Team Edo 2 Gold 2 Silver and 2 bronze, Team Oyo 2 Gold 2 Silver, 2 bronze, Team Ogun Silver 2, bronze 1, Team Rivers 2 Gold 2 Silver, 3 bronze

Medals have rained for Team Ondo, Cross Rivers, Team Police, Team Nigerian Army, Team Delta Club, Team Dynamite club and Team Robinson club among other states and clubs.
