Abandoned Dog Found at Pittsburgh Airport Due to Crate Requirement

Police in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, intervened to rescue an abandoned dog at Pittsburgh International Airport after its owner discovered that the dog couldn’t board the flight without a proper crate.

The Allegheny County Police Department shared in a Facebook post that on August 4, around 5:30 a.m., officers found an unattended dog in a stroller at the airport. The dog was identified through a microchip, but attempts to contact the owner via phone were unsuccessful.

Subsequent investigation revealed that the owner had been informed by the airline that the dog must be in a crate to travel. Faced with this requirement, the owner left the dog near the airport’s short-term parking area and proceeded to board her flight.

According to reports, the abandoned dog is a licensed French bulldog.

Police anticipate that an animal abandonment charge will be filed in connection with this incident.
