BIRS Partners Police to Curb Illegal Revenue Activities in Benue State

Benue State Internal Revenue Service, BIRS, is to partner with the Benue State Police Command to curb illegal revenue activities in Benue State.
Acting Chairman, Benue Internal Revenue Service, Mr Emmanuel Agema said this when he led agency’s management team to pay a coutesy visit to the Commissioner of Police, Benue State Police Command, Mr Bartholomew Nnamdi Onyeka.
The tax Boss stated that security is paramount towards effective revenue generation, emphasizing that BIRS can’t efficiently carry out its function without the Police, hence the need for collaboration with the later to stamp out illegal revenue checkpoints across the state.
In a statement by the Media Assistant to the BIRS’s Chairman, Jacintha Bernard, quoted her boss as notifying the Commissioner of Police about the activities of miscreants who extort money and harass the public on our roads, particularly Ihugh-Gboko road and North Bank for necessary action.
Responding, the Commissioner of Police, Benue State Command, Mr Bartholomew Nnamdi Onyeka applauded Mr Agema and his team for the visit, assuring that he will collaborate with the agency to tackle criminality.
Cp Onyeka implored Benue State Revenue Service to provide them with a list of the gazetted inspection, monitoring points and symbols.
The Commissioner who assured BIRS that the Police will clamp down on illegal revenue checkpoints operators, noted that the police will not give room for lawlessness in the state. End
