Gunmen have unleashed terror in the village of Giyawa, situated in the Goronyo local government area of Sokoto State

The Sokoto State Police have officially confirmed this brutal attack on the eastern front of the state.

The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), ASP Ahmed Rufai, provided grim details, reporting that “four lives have been tragically lost, while 18 individuals were subjected to abduction by the assailants. These criminals also looted other valuable possessions, including livestock.”

However, amidst the chaos, a glimmer of hope emerged as seven of the abducted victims managed to escape and find their way back to their community. Nevertheless, this wave of violence has prompted many residents to flee their homes in search of safety.

The law enforcement agencies have mobilized to track down the assailants, tirelessly working to restore a semblance of normalcy to the affected community and its surrounding areas.

It’s worth noting that while some sources in the community have asserted that over 30 individuals were taken captive, the Police continue to assert that only 11 individuals remain in the custody of these attackers.
