The state Commissioner of health, Hajiya Asabe Balarabe has received the seed stock of Ready-to-use therapeutic food (RUTF) at the Sokoto State Drugs and Medical Supplies Management Agency (DMSMA), which was to be included in the State Drug Revolving Fund (DRF) scheme.
The RUTF was donated by the USAID in order to strengthen the availability of essential health commodities to all the citizens of the State and to help in reducing the effects of malnutrition affecting the Northern part of the country.
The commissioner explained that, selected health facilities will be capitalized with the RUTF seed stock and the money generated will be used to repurchase another stock in order to sustain the program.
Similarly, the Hon. Commissioner flag-off the bimonthly distribution of free Malaria, family planning and HIV/AIDs commodities to 585 health facilities in the State.
She urged the facility in- charges and all staff of the facilities to ensure effective utilization and accountability of these products,and also urged people to report any staff found selling free commodities in the facilities.
During the visit, the hon. Commissioner also, expressed her gratitude to the State Government under the leadership of HE Dr Ahmad Aliyu Sokoto for given maximum support in term of strengthen the health infrastructure,human resource and funding, as health remains one the top priority of this present administration. She was accompanied by the acting permanent Secretary Alh Ladan Ibrahim and Director Pharmaceutical Services of the Ministry, Pharm Muhammad Musa Hamisu
Thanking the Commissioner for the visit, the Director General of the Agency, Pharm Alh Tukur Sanyinna, expressed his satisfaction on the commitment and jeal of the commissioner in repositioning of the health system.
He assured her that, the Agency will continue to provide quality and affordable health commodities to all the people of the State.
The DG was accompanied by the Director Drugs of the Agency Pharm Mahmud Muhammad and Director sales and Marketing of the Agency, Pharmacist Bilyaminu Bello Gobirawa.
