The National Examination Council (NECO) has officially released the results of the June/July 2023 Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE), revealing that 61.60% of students achieved five credits and above in English Language and Mathematics.

The announcement was made by the Registrar and Chief Executive Officer, Professor Dantani Ibrahim Wushishi, during a press briefing held at NECO headquarters in Minna, Niger State.

According to Prof. Wushishi, a total of 1,205,888 students registered for the examination, with 1,196,985 candidates actually sitting for the exams. This figure includes 616,398 males and 580,587 females.

Comparing the results to the 2022 SSCE, there was a slight decrease of 0.86% in the number of candidates who obtained five credits and above in both English Language and Mathematics. In 2022, the pass rate was 60.74%.

It’s worth noting that in 2021, the pass rate for these two core subjects was higher at 71.64%. More detailed results will be made available later.
