Workers at the Nigerian Postal Service (NIPOST) in Abuja have organized a protest to voice their opposition to the appointment of Tola Odeyemi as the Chief Executive Officer/Post Master General. President Bola Tinubu recently made changes to the leadership of communication agencies, including NIPOST, as announced by Presidential spokesman Chief Ajuri Ngelale.
This protest was fueled by confusion and uncertainty surrounding the appointment. Shortly after the news of Tola Odeyemi’s appointment, there were reports suggesting that Adeyemi Adepoju, the previously sacked Post Master-General, had been reinstated. A viral video showed Adepoju addressing workers who claimed he had been reappointed.
In response to these developments, the protesting workers blocked access to the NIPOST office and expressed their preference for Adepoju. They chanted solidarity songs and displayed placards, reflecting the ongoing concerns and uncertainty surrounding the leadership changes within NIPOST. The situation remains fluid and contentious.
