NSCDC Arrests 76 Suspects in Same-Sex Marriage Bust in Gombe State

In a significant operation, the Gombe State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) apprehended 76 individuals suspected to be involved in same-sex relationships in the state. The arrests were made during a planned same-sex birthday party that was rumored to be followed by a marriage ceremony. NSCDC personnel acted swiftly following a tip-off, preventing the wedding from taking place.

According to Muhammad Bello Mu’azu, the Commandant of the Gombe State NSCDC, 59 males and 17 females were detained at Duwa plaza along the Bauchi-Gombe expressway. Out of these, 21 males and 17 females confessed to being involved in homosexual relationships. The NSCDC has expressed its zero tolerance for such social vices and is determined to bring those responsible to justice.

Mu’azu highlighted the deteriorating moral standards among the youth and announced plans to channel the culprits into educational programs, reducing their time for such activities. The suspects will face legal consequences for their involvement in this social vice, as same-sex relationships are considered a crime in Gombe. Investigations are underway, and the individuals will be prosecuted once the process is complete.
