President Bola Tinubu has made the decision to appoint Dr. Abdullahi Mustapha as the Director-General and Chief Executive Officer of the Energy Commission of Nigeria (ECN).
Dr. Abdullahi Mustapha brings extensive experience from his over a decade of service in the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC), focusing on the Energy and Space Technology sectors. Dr. Mustapha has recently earned his Doctorate degree in Mechanical Engineering, specializing in Renewable Energy. He also completed a Post-Doctoral Fellowship as a Research Associate in the School of Engineering at the prestigious University of Manchester.
In a statement issued by presidential spokesman Ajuri Ngelale, President Tinubu has high expectations for the new ECN Chief Executive. Dr. Mustapha is tasked with playing a significant role in the administration’s ambitious efforts to diversify the country’s energy sources in a coordinated manner across the government. The ultimate goal is to industrialize every part of the country and liberate every citizen from the burdens of energy poverty.
