The Governorship Campaign Council of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Bayelsa State has announced the suspension of campaigns billed for Thursday, 26 October, 2023, following an unfortunate boat mishap while on a campaign tour in Nembe Local Government Area of the state.
A statement released by the Chairman of the APC in Bayelsa State, Dr. Dennis Otiotio, said that the party was announcing the suspension of campaigns billed to hold today, October 26, 2023 at Nembe-Ogbolomabiri and Nembe-Bassambiri in Nembe Local Government Area of the state following the unfortunate incident.
The statement said: “The Bayelsa State APC Governorship Campaign Council wish to announce the suspension of our campaigns billed to hold tomorrow (today) 26 October, 2023 at Nembe-Ogbolomabiri and Nembe-Bassambiri.
“This is due to an unfortunate boat mishap during our campaigns today (Wednesday, October 25, 2023). At the moment, a ranking member of staff of our Campaign Council is yet to be accounted for. We have informed relevant authorities and search parties are on top of the situation”.
The party Chairman said that the Campaign Council will take a day’s break to evaluate the situation before it will resume its campaigns on Friday, 27 October 2023, at Ogbolomabiri and Bassambiri before heading to Brass on Saturday and Sunday to conclude campaigns in Bayelsa East.
