Lagos Task Force Crushes 1,500 Seized Motorcycles

The Commissioner for Transportation in Lagos, Oluwaseun Osiyemi, accompanied by the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Wale Musa, oversaw the destruction of 1,500 seized motorcycles at the Lagos State Task Force premises in Oshodi on Monday.

The Lagos State Government shared images of the exercise on its official account, captioned, “Commissioner for #lagosMOT1, Oluwaseun Osiyemi, with the Permanent Secretary, Wale Musa, at the crushing of 1,500 seized commercial motorcycles at the Lagos State Task Force premises on Monday.”

The move is part of the government’s ongoing efforts to enforce the ban on the operation of commercial motorcycles, commonly known as okada, on major highways. This action comes in response to a renewed clampdown on okada operators who have returned to the roads.

In October, the Director of Public Affairs for the Lagos State Task Force, Gbadeyan Abdulraheem, highlighted the enforcement challenges due to the state’s proximity to Ogun State. Despite the difficulties, the government remains committed to developing effective strategies to address congestion and maintain the ban on okada operations.
