Kidnappers Demand N50m Ransom for Nasarawa LG Chairman and Friend

The abductors of Alhaji Safiyanu Andaha, the Chairman of Akwanga Local Government Area in Nasarawa State, and his friend, Adamu Umar Tanko, have reportedly demanded a ransom of N50 million for their release.

A family source, who spoke on condition of anonymity, revealed this information in Lafia on Tuesday. According to the source, negotiations are underway between the chairman’s family and the kidnappers.

Alhaji Safiyanu Andaha and Adamu Umar Tanko, also known as Adamu Custom, were kidnapped on Monday night. The incident occurred at Ningo village on the Akwanga-Andaha Road around 8:30 pm.

Haruna Kassimu, the Special Adviser to the Nasarawa State Governor on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, confirmed the kidnapping, emphasizing that efforts were being made to negotiate the safe release of the victims.

DSP Ramhan Nansel, the State Police Public Relations Officer, also affirmed the abduction and assured that the police, in collaboration with other security agencies, are actively pursuing the kidnappers to secure the release of the chairman and his friend.
