Lawrence Ezeh, the Commissioner for Innovation, Science, and Technology in Enugu State, intervened to settle the hospital bill for Mrs. Joan Orajiobi and her triplets at Praise and Grace Hospital and Maternity in Enugu. The family was detained due to their inability to pay the delivery bill for the triplets born on New Year’s Day.
Orajiobi had appealed for assistance, prompting Commissioner Ezeh to cover the outstanding bill on Saturday. Having experienced the challenges of raising triplets himself, Ezeh empathized with the situation and took action to support the family.
Dr. Shedrack Emeribe, the Medical Director of the hospital, confirmed that the commissioner cleared all the bills. The mother and her triplets had been held since January 8 due to an outstanding bill of N352,350, which was reduced by Ezeh’s intervention.
Appreciative of the commissioner’s kindness, Orajiobi expressed gratitude for the financial assistance and donations received from well-wishers for the newborns.
