Three Anambra Monarchs Revoke Ifeanyi Ubah’s Chieftaincy Titles

Must read

The traditional rulers of Aguluezechukwu, Neni, and Ojoto— Igwe F.E. Ebelendu, Igwe Onwuamaeze Damian, and Igwe Gerald Mbamalu—have withdrawn the chieftaincy titles bestowed upon Senator Ifeanyi Ubah. This move comes after the Anambra State government suspended the traditional ruler of Neni, Igwe Damian Ezeani, for conferring a chieftaincy title on Senator Ubah, who recently defected to the All Progressives Congress.

In a statement issued by the Press Secretary to the state governor, Christian Aburime, the action of the three traditional rulers is deemed a direct contravention of the State Traditional Rulers’ code. The titles of Ikemba Ojoto, Odenjiinji Neni, and Dike Eji Eje Ogu, previously conferred on Senator Ifeanyi Ubah, have been officially withdrawn and canceled by the three Igwes.

The statement emphasized that traditional rulers are advised to strictly adhere to State Traditional laws, avoiding actions that could violate the provisions of the law. Senator Ubah, in response, attributed the suspension to political motives, claiming that Governor Soludo is frustrated by his rising popularity and jittery about the next governorship election. Ubah insisted that the governor’s actions are politically motivated and expressed confidence in the people’s support.
