Correspondent Chapel of NUJ elects Officials in Kogi

Mr. Shegun Salami of the Channel Television has emerged the Chairman of the correspondent Chapel of the Kogi state council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, (NUJ).

The election which produced all candidates unopposed has Thomson Yamput as the Vice chairman, Salihu Oyibo Secretary, Joseph Amedu Treasurer, Ayobami Omole-Iyagin, financial secretary while the Post of auditor went to Victoria Inikaike.

The election which was supervised by the Vice chairman of the state council of NUJ, Alhaji Obansa Ibrahim charged the new executive of the correspondent Chapel to always work in synergy with the state government to enhance harmonious coexistence in the state.

He therefore assured the chapel that the council will continue to give all the necessary support that would enhance their performance.

The immediate past chairman, Mr. Friday Idachaba in his welfare speech said he was able to create links with some viable NGOs that really uplift welfare of members.

He thanked members of the chapel for their cooperation and working relationship throughput his administration and enjoined them to accord same to the new executive to enable them achieve maximum results.

In his post election speech, the Chairman, Shegun Salami thanked the immediate past chairman of the chapel, Mr. Friday Idachaba for his role to upgrade the union and
Commended the credentials committee members for their efficiency and advise that could make the union grow.

Salami who promised that his administration will not disappoint members said “if we must move forward, it must not be business as a usual.”

In his bid to work according to the Constitution of the union, the chairman therefore constituted a disciplinary committee that will henceforth checkmate the activities of members.

He promised on behalf of other executive members to discharge their responsibility without fear or favour, assuring to initiate programmes that would translate into enhancing the welfare for members.
