In his speech, the Rector Dr. Abubakar Faruk, FCA applauded the efforts of the ES for bringing various innovations to the Polytechnic sector that place emphasis on skills rather than certification.

He also appreciated the results of the recent resource inspection, accreditation, and reaccreditation of over 74 programs of the KSP by the Board, assuring that all the observations and recommendations will be implemented.

The Rector further emphasized that Kano State Polytechnic has over one hundred PhD holders and an equivalent number of Chief Lecturers in different disciplines, he therefore, requested the involvement of the KSP staff in any key mandate areas or programs of the Board.

He finally solicited the support and cooperation of the Board towards the improvement of the Institution’s programs.

Responding, the Executive Secretary, Prof. Muhammad Idris Bugaje appreciated the visit and congratulated the Rector on his appointment by the Executive Governor of Kano State, Engr. Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf.

He also called on the KSP to participate in a round table discussion on the AKK program (Gas Pipelining and installation) which will soon commence and is aimed at boosting the downstream industries, and by extension providing employment opportunities to the teaming youth.

Prof. Bugaje suggested that the KSP should further introduce more skills acquisition programs such as Gas Engineering, Rail Engineering, and similar skills programs.

He also urged KSP management to consider engaging the informal sectors, like the Kofar Ruwa market, Gandun Albasa Furniture Market, Farm Center GSM Market, and the likes, into certification programs, which would boost indigenous capacity to meet the needs of the industries, as done by Kaduna Polytechnic to Fanteka Market.

In conclusion, the executive secretary thanked them for the visit and assured them of the Board’s unflinching support when the needs arise as contained in a press statement issued to newsman by the KSP head of protocol and media, Auwal Ismail Bagwai.
