Police Arrest Suspected Kidnapper Linked to Nabeeha’s Murder

The Nigerian Police Force has successfully apprehended a suspected kidnapper associated with the abduction and tragic murder of Nabeeha, the daughter of a Bwari-based lawyer. The arrest was made in a Kaduna hotel during a police raid on January 20th, where 28-year-old Bello Mohammed was found in possession of N2.25 million, believed to be ransom money.

Nabeeha was one of the victims abducted by bandits from the Sagwari Estate Layout in the Dutsen-Alhaji area of the Bwari Area Council in the Federal Capital Territory. The kidnappers had demanded a N700 million ransom for nine hostages. Tragically, four of the hostages, including Nabeeha, lost their lives.

Bello Mohammed confessed during police interrogation to being part of the gang responsible for the kidnapping in Bwari on January 2nd. He also admitted to the murder of some of their kidnapped victims, including Nabeeha, in a camp in Kaduna State on January 13th.

In a dramatic turn, Mohammed attempted to bribe the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) leading the operation with N1 million, but the DPO rejected the inducement and proceeded with the arrest. Mohammed is being transferred to the IRT in Abuja for further investigation and to aid in the apprehension of other accomplices involved in the criminal activities.

The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, commended the DPO’s commitment and professionalism, emphasizing the police force’s dedication to eradicating criminal elements and ensuring a safer society for Nigerians.
