The air component of Operation Whirl Punch conducted successful strikes, eliminating 30 terrorists on motorcycles in Kaduna’s Birnin Gwari Local Government Area. The strikes were prompted by intelligence reports indicating the movement of the terrorist syndicate in the region. These terrorists were responsible for recent troop ambushes and various attacks in the area.
Air Vice Marshal Edward Gabkwet, Director of Public Relations and Information, stated that a precision strike was executed after locating the terrorists’ convoy of 15 motorcycles. The aftermath revealed the elimination of several terrorists, bringing relief to the insecurity-ridden Birnin Gwari region.
In a separate operation in Katsina, security operatives rescued 35 kidnap victims from Dumburu forest. The victims, kidnapped from Tashar Nagulle and Nahuta communities, were brought to the Government House, Katsina, where Governor Dikko Radda commended and supported each victim with N100,000 for a fresh start.
The successful rescue operation involved a fierce gun battle between the troops and bandits, resulting in multiple bandit casualties, destroyed camps, and the recovery of numerous weapons. These joint efforts by security operatives aim to curb banditry and enhance safety in the affected regions.
