Panic Erupts as Bodies of Two Brothers Found in Car Trunk

The discovery of two corpses allegedly murdered and abandoned in the trunk of their Toyota Corolla along the Enugu-Onitsha Expressway near Tempo Mills, Umunya, Anambra State, has triggered panic among residents and passers-by.

The victims, identified as brothers Onyema and Nonso, were reportedly returning home after attending a church program along Oguta Road, near Upper Iweka, Onitsha. The unsettling incident follows recent reports of another couple’s bodies found under similar circumstances along the Enugu-Onitsha Expressway, Umunya.

Anambra State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ikenga Tochukwu, confirmed the discovery of the couple’s bodies, stating that police personnel recovered the lifeless bodies and an abandoned vehicle with expended cartridges at the scene. The bodies have been deposited in the morgue, and investigations are ongoing.

While the police spokesperson couldn’t confirm details about the bodies of the two brothers, a local cleric, Venerable Emmanuel Onovo, revealed that both victims were members of the Anglican Communion in the state. Onovo offered prayers for the grieving parents upon learning about the tragic incident.

The motive behind the brutal killing remains uncertain, with speculations suggesting that the brothers might have been targeted by kidnappers. Concerns arose that they could have been recognized or presented challenges to their assailants. The community remains on edge as investigations continue into this disturbing incident.
