BREAKING: EFCC operatives allegedly arrest FUTA students in midnight raid

Must read

In a recent development, individuals suspected to be operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) reportedly carried out a midnight operation at the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA), located in Ondo State.

According to reports, the operation occurred around 2 am, with students’ lodges being targeted and allegedly invaded by the operatives. Videos shared on social media depict broken window frames, indicating possible forced entry into the premises.

Several students have taken to social media platforms to share their accounts of the incident, alleging that some of their peers were arrested during the raid. One social media user, identified as J Brandy, expressed concern over the EFCC’s nighttime operations, referencing a previous directive by the EFCC Chairman, Ola Olukoyede, to halt such actions.

The directive to cease sting operations at night came in November following widespread condemnation of the arrest of suspected internet fraudsters in Ile-Ife, Osun State, by EFCC operatives.

Efforts to reach the EFCC’s Head of Media and Publicity, Dele Oyewale, for comment on the matter were unsuccessful as he did not respond to calls at the time of publication.
