Governor’s comment prompts Daurawa’s resignation amid investigation into Kano Shari’a Police

The recent resignation of Sheikh Aminu Ibrahim Daurawa as Kano Hisbah Commander-General was as a result of governor Abba Kabir’s remark about the shari’a police activities according to an investigation carried out by our Kano correspondent.

Sheikh Daurawa announced his resignation from Kaduna state where he was attending a special programme related to his Command after the governor spoke on the arrests made by the Hisbah officers with an objectives towards the enforcement of shari’a law on offenders in accordance to Islamic rites.

The governor’s speech has created a heated argument between the people of Kano state , the Islamic scholars, commentators on current affairs in the state as well as the opposition which remained the subject of discussion.

Speaking to Daybreak News, Malam Mustapha Aminu who is from an opposition side disclosed that the governor’s comment on the shari’a police has caused the heated debate about the issue that consumed the seat of the Commander General as known across the state.

Similarly a top figure in the kano Hisbah command who pleaded for anonymity stated that ” what his excellency governor Abba Kabir has done is the cause of the stir and instead of him to utter any words to the command he suppose to channel his grievances secretly to the Commander-General which is more appropriate “. He concluded.

As at the time of filing this report, heat arguments remained a subject of discussion in Kano state where some residents condemn the governor’s remarks while others called on Sheikh Daurawa to go back to his position which may be very difficult to convince him.
