Today, a group of Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore members converged at the Federal High Court in Abuja, demanding the immediate release of their president, Bello Bodejo.
Bodejo was apprehended on January 23 at the Miyetti Allah office in Karu Local Government Area of Nasarawa State following the announcement of a vigilante group. Since then, he has been held in the custody of the Defence Intelligence Agency.
On February 5, the Attorney General of the Federation, Lateef Fagbemi (SAN), filed a motion seeking to detain Bodejo pending investigation and court proceedings. However, Justice Inyang Ekwo granted a 15-day remand order instead.
Following the expiration of the remand period, the court instructed the Federal Government to file charges against Bodejo within seven days. As of February 22, the government was given another seven days to do so.
Bodejo’s legal team has now filed a motion for his unconditional release, which is scheduled for a hearing today.
Further updates will be provided as the situation unfolds.
