Benue State Internal Revenue Service, BIRS, is to collaborate with the Operation Whirl stroke to wipe out all illegal checkpoints across the state.
The Acting Executive Chairman of the service, Mr Emmanuel Agema disclosed this when he led the management team of BIRS on a courtesy visit to the Commander, Operation Whirl stroke, Major General Sunday Igbinomwanhia in his office.
To this end, Mr Agema solicited support from the Command for the provision of security personnels who would work with the BIRS team to stop the activities of the illegal checkpoints operators in the state in order to create a safe place for people of Benue State and an enabling environment for smooth business transaction.
The Acting Executive Chairman, BIRS, through his Media Assistant, Jacinta Bernard, noted that the activities of the hoodlums has prevented foreign investors from investing in the state, caused untold hardship, pains and sufferings to the people, stressing that it has affected revenue generation.
The Chairman who lauded the Commanding Officer for giving them audience, however observed with dismay the dismantling of the BIRS checkpoint at Katsina-Ala town by the Officers of the Command, explaining that the service has 16 monitoring and inspection points across the state with each Staff wearing BIRS customized jackets.
Responding on behalf of the Commanding Officer, General Abubakar, commended the team for the visit and pledged the support of the Command to the service in eradicating illegal road blocks in Benue State.
